WHY DIVERSITY ON PAPER IS NOT ENOUGH
Diversity and variety are not new topics - rather, it has been shaping society for many years. Despite its increasing relevance, there is a need to catch up in terms of respect, tolerance and diversity in many companies. We at BludauPartners are also aware of this development in our cooperation with our clients and thus in our daily work. The topic of diversity is no longer limited to diversity officers; it has long since reached all areas of the company.
It is becoming increasingly clear that bringing together a wide variety of personalities, experiences and perspectives should be seen as a key strength of teams and companies. Yet despite this relevance, there are still too few women in top management positions, LGBTQI+ personalities in leadership positions are massively underrepresented, and the topic of diversity is not actually lived or actively promoted in many companies.
Pride Month in June should be used to increase the focus on this topic and encourage organizations and individuals to work harder for diversity and openness. As part of our consulting services, we are focused in the area of executive search on establishing diverse leadership teams and creating increasing awareness of the importance of the issue. In the area of executive development, we can go beyond staffing to promote openness and tolerance in leadership teams and thus establish them in corporate structures. In workshops with teams, executives and organizations, we repeatedly experience that diversity is becoming increasingly important on the one hand, but that an open and appreciative approach has not yet been implemented in many organizations.
Managing Director Kaan Bludau perceives this development as increasingly critical to success: "Diversity and thus appreciation of diversity should have been a matter of course for a long time, but we see a need to catch up here in many companies. Diverse and inclusive managers enable an environment that allows employees to flourish, and that is what we want to achieve. Involving everyone in business processes, decisions and shaping the future can ensure the long-term success of a company and create an optimal working environment for all employees."
In this context, our goal is to establish and promote diverse leadership teams and advance inclusivity in all areas of organizations. The increasing focus on the topic of diversity can serve to build bridges between different groups in society, but also within the company.
In addition, new forms of work, increasing digitalization and dynamic developments on the market increasingly require flexibility and adaptability from managers and organizational units. We observe that those companies that promote and live diversity are more open and flexible in their entirety to adapt to dynamic challenges.
As a result, openness and flexibility become important leadership skills. In the search for leaders in our daily work, these competencies thus come to the fore.
